SUSU Is Working on Strengthening its Positions in International Collaboration

As part of the anniversary week events, the heads of diasporas and consulates general have visited SUSU today. The meeting with the SUSU Rector Alexander Wagner was held in a festive atmosphere and its highlight was the mutual exchange of memorable gifts.

World Culture Corner: The Fourth Floor Hall Renovated for SUSU Students

An art object and a new student space have been opened on the fourth floor of the SUSU main building on the third anniversary day celebrated under the "SUSU International Orbit" slogan.

All conditions for comfortable learning and pastime within the walls of the university are created today at South Ural State University. This Monday, the Our Floor student co-working space was opened at SUSU, and today, an updated student space dedicated to the 80th anniversary of our university has also been opened on the fourth floor of the SUSU main building.

Online Meeting with International Students Held at SUSU

Fascinating events are being held during the week celebrating the 80th anniversary of South Ural State University. One of the pleasant additions to our big-scale festivities is the online meeting that has been organized for international alumni and members of the South Ural Association of International Students and Alumni. Graduates from various countries from all over the world joined the online meeting with their alma mater, including alumni from Sri Lanka, Côte d'Ivoire, Uzbekistan, Tadjikistan, and Kazakhstan.

South Ural State University Celebrates Its 80th Anniversary!

On December 15, 2023 South Ural State University will celebrate the 80th anniversary since the date of its establishment. Our university is actively preparing for the festivities, which will be held during 5 days, December 11th through 15th. The event program will include excursions, exhibitions, presentations, flash mobs, contests, gala show, and of course, the anniversary cake.

Presentation of a Book from the “Engineers” Series about an Outstanding Transport Scientist Was Held at SUSU

Presentation of a book titled Prokopiev Valerii Nikiforovich was held at the Pushkin Hall of South Ural State University.

This book describes the life and work of Valerii Prokopiev, Doctor of Sciences (Engineering) (1986), Professor (1987), Honorary Figure of Russian Higher Education (1999), academician of the Russian Academy of Transport (1995), and Head of the Department of Automotive Engineering (1976–2009).

8th International Conference on Innovations in Sport, Tourism and Education icISTIS-2023 Being Held at SUSU

The 8th International Conference on Innovations in Sport, Tourism and Education icISTIS-2023, which began at South Ural State University on December 7th, has brought together Russian and international scientists, academics, postgraduates and students from more than 20 Russian cities, as well as from Belarus, Brazil and Syria.

SUSU Is a Partner in the Governor's Engineering Classes Project

This autumn, South Ural State University was one of the first to join the process of teaching schoolchildren within the Governor's Engineering Classes project. Schoolchildren from Lyceum No. 11, Lyceum No. 120, Privilegiia IT Lyceum and Krasnooktyabrskii Secondary School in the village of Ishalino solve real problems set by PAO Chelyabinsk Forge-and-Press Plant. Students of the Department of Machines and Processes of Pressure Metal Working act as mentors, and schoolchildren act as development engineers of a large project.

Chelyabinsk Scientists "Heal" Cracks in Concrete Using Bacteria

Building concrete often cracks during shrinkage, affected by freezing temperature and exceeding of the design load. Small cracks in beams and slabs are not dangerous in themselves as they are harmful to the internal steel reinforcement, which performs the main load-bearing function in the material. When water and air seep into the cracks, the steel begins to rust, which leads to the gradual destruction of the entire reinforced concrete structure. A method for a concrete self-restoration using a biomineral additive has been proposed by scientists from South Ural State University.

Researchers from SUSU and SPBU Studying Science Diplomacy in the Arctic

Events of the 20th century convincingly demonstrate that science plays an important role in a country's defending its interests. And it can also facilitate the consolidation of peace between countries during the period of tension, when other political mechanisms have no effect. In 2023 researchers from Saint Petersburg and Chelyabinsk are completing their joint project on the creation of an optimal model of Russia's science diplomacy in the Arctic, within the frameworks of RSF grant No. 22-28-01287.

A New Method of Foundry Production Patented by SUSU

Scientists from the SUSU Institute of Engineering and Technology have patented a new method for making a casting mould for the production of metal parts. The new technological method is environmentally friendly and increases labour productivity in the same time compared to traditional production methods. The technology is useful for the branches of mechanical engineering, rocket engineering, and aircraft engine building.

The Coordination Council on Environmental Issues under the Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region headed by Rashid Ismailov, with the participation of the Minister of Ecology Sergei Likhachev, held a round table with representatives of industrial enterprises on the implementation of the main directions of state policy in atmospheric air protection, at which they discussed the most pressing issues and agreed on coordination arrangements.

Student of the Institute of Media, Social Sciences and Humanities Presented a Report at Korean Studies Conference

On November 23–24, a Regional Student Science-to-practice Conference on the Countries of the Korean Peninsula: the Past and the Present was held in Irkutsk.

Irkutsk State University and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Russia acted as the event organizers. SUSU student Sofiia Repina, majoring in History, presented her report on the Image of the Korean War as Covered by the Soviet Periodicals, on the Example of Ogoniok Magazine in 1950-1953.

South Ural Association of International Students and Alumni has held day one of the Festival of the Peoples of the World!

SUSU is a university which brings together representatives from more than 50 countries of the world. That is why it became the venue for this festival.

November 28 through November 30, 2023, the 3rd Young Scientists Congress is being held at the Sirius Federal Educational Centre in Sochi. South Ural State University presents the results of its leading projects as part of the exhibition program of the Congress.

SUSU Ecologists at the MedGU-2023 Mediterranean Geoforum

Research fellows from the SUSU Laboratory for Studying Environmental Problems in Post-industrial Agglomerations Tatiana Krupnova and Olga Rakova have presented their reports at the major forum of the 3rd Mediterranean Geosciences Union (MedGU–2023).

The conference is being held at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Istanbul, and has gathered 1200 participants from 89 countries. Among the scientists are ecologists, meteorologists, geologists, and even palaeontologists.
